SAVANNA-LA-MAR, Westmoreland —The Rotary Club of Savanna-la-Mar, which is currently undertaking two projects in schools, recently received a boost with the donation of $30,000 from CIBC First Caribbean International Bank.

The funds will be used to assist in the club's annual cricket and family fun day event held in December.

Every year, the club hosts a 20/20 cricket and family fun day from which the funds raised is used to assist with the club's Peace and Conflict Resolution and Cub Scout projects.

The Cub Scout project is aimed at providing uniforms and gear for cub scouts in mostly primary schools, and also to assist club leaders with training in Kingston.

The other project seeks to instil discipline in students as well as to help them find ways on how to amicably resolve conflicts.

Additionally, the club is currently constructing a peace and conflict centre at Ferris Primary in Westmoreland. The centre will be manned by trained professionals.

President of the Rotary Club of Savanna-la-Mar Carol James thanked CIBC FirstCaribbean Bank for the donation as she stressed the importance of the projects.

CIBC Savanna-la-Mar Branch Manager, Wenley Wright, said the bank decided to assist the club after it was advised of the projects.
