Coopers Pen, Falmouth United, Duanvale, Salt Marsh advance to TFA KO semis

COOPERS PEN, Trelawny — Coopers Pen FC were the only semi-finalists from last season to survive the second round of the Trelawny Football Association's Victor Wright Knockout, as both finalists from last season were beaten on Sunday.

Defending champions Harmony FC and last season's beaten finalists Holland United were the losers as the semi-finalists were decided.

Coopers Pen, Falmouth United, Duanvale FC and Salt Marsh United advanced to the semi-finals with contrasting wins.

Coopers Pen beat Prospect Links 3-1 on penalty kicks after they played out a 2-2 draw; Falmouth United were 3-0 winners over Friendship FC, thanks to a hat-trick from Antonio Roberts; Salt Marsh United blanked Harmony FC 2-0 at Davis Pen; while Duanvale FC came from a goal down to beat Holland United 3-2 at Duanvale to advance.

At Coopers, both the home team and Prospect Links played game with 10 men from the fourth minute after Shemar Allen of Coopers Pen and Nicholas Maylor of Prospect Links were sent off for “violent conduct”.

They played out a 2-2 draw in regulation and extra time as Prospect Links came from 0-2 down with goals from Onique Small before Coopers Pen won 3-1 on penalty kicks.

Tevin Fisher gave Coopers Pen the lead in the seventh minute and Jevaughn Johnson made it 2-0 in the 25th minute.Small pulled a goal back in the 40th minute then completed the comeback in the 56th minute, but was unable to take them any further.

At Davis Pen, Harmony FC, who play in the Western Confederation Super League, lost for the first time this season as Tajay Bronstrophe scored in the 65th minute and Kyle Edwards added a second in time added on to send their team into the top four.

Cristajay Daley gave Holland United the lead against Duanvale when he scored in the eighth minute, but Chevaughn Barnett equalised for the home team in the 35th minute and then Oshane Brown gave Duanvale FC the lead in the 44th minute. Kemar Newman drew Holland United back level with a penalty kick in the 55th minute.

Kemroy Brown found the winner in the 68th minute, however, as Duanvale FC won 3-2.

At Elleston Wakeland Centre, Roberts scored his hat-trick to lead Falmouth United to a 3-0 win over Friendship FC. Roberts's goals came in the 40th, 48th and 80th minutes.
