Former Cornwall College sprinter Washington Brown left the island on Sunday for the University of Texas-Austin to take up a track and field scholarship. Brown, who was third in the Class 1 100m final at the ISSA Boys' Champs in March, is the second former Cornwall College athlete to attend the University of Texas on a scholarship following shot putter/discus thrower Michael Harrison in the late 1970s. He is also the seventh Cornwall College student to take up a track and field scholarship in the USA in the last three years. (Photo:Paul Reid)
