MONTEGO BAY, St James — The thanksgiving service for former western Jamaica journalist Volney Barrett will be held on Saturday (April 14) at King's Chapel, Albion Road, Montego Bay, starting at 9:00 am

Barrett's family, who has expressed gratitude for the public's overwhelming support during their time of grief, is urging those who will be in attendance to wear cheerful colours.

Interment will follow in the family plot at Spring Vale in St Elizabeth.

The 32-year-old Barrett died on February 28, a day after he reportedly underwent dialysis and paracentesis at a medical facility.

At the time of his passing, Barrett was a reporter at the Montego Bay-based Western Mirror.
