MONTEGO BAY, St James - Five new teams will take part in the Western Basketball Association's Men's Championships that will get underway this Saturday with a double- header at the Montego Bay Boys Club, starting at 2:00pm with a dress parade of all 13 participating teams.

MoBay Community College Gladiators, Holland Saints, Herbert Morrison Spartans, University of the West Indies-Western Jamaica Campus and Lightning Blitz are the new teams that will be taking part with the hopes of taking the title at the end of the season.

The teams will play each other once with the top eight on points advancing to the quarter-finals that will be played on a straight knock-out format.

The top four will then advance to the semi-finals.

On Saturday following the dress parade, last season's beaten finalists Montego Bay Boys Club Warriors will face Holland Saints in the opening game, set to start at 3:00pm followed by Knibb Thunder meeting Sav Elite Titans.

Games will be played on Saturday, Sundays and Tuesdays.
