MoBay to get major auto show
WEALTH Magazine gave the media a hint of what to come when they stage the Wealth Auto Show 2014 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre from July 19 through 20, at the event's media launch at Adam & Eve Spa in New Kingston on Tuesday night.
"Montego Bay has never had a new-car show of this league before, and we felt it was time to deliver," Garth Walker, chairman of Creative Media and Events, told Auto.
The show will run from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm on both days and costs $500 for adults. Children under 12 enter free. Walker makes no bones about the size and effort going into moving the event to the western end of the island, indicating that the doors of the convention centre were modified to accept the vehicles expected and that they're targeting a minimum of 5,000 patrons.
"The convention centre is new to many, which adds some appeal. We will be having a fully decked-out kids zone, so while the parents/adults are viewing and negotiating, the kids will be able to keep themselves occupied as well," he said.
Attendees will have lots to view as major new-car dealers such as ATL Motors authorized dealers of Audi, Jaguar, Land Rover, Range Rover, Volkwagen and Honda; Toyota Jamaica, KIA dealers KIA Motors; Vehicles and Supplies, authorized dealers of Isuzu vehicles; Hyundai dealers Key Motors and Mazda dealers Executive Motors are expected to have a wide array of models on display.
Along with the car dealers, financial institutions including National Commercial Bank, Sagicor and the Jamaica International Insurance Company are also expected to be in attendance.
"People in the west have always complained that Kingston is not Jamaica, and the Wealth Auto Show bridges the gap between dealers and customers which we believe is our role in the auto market," he told Auto.
