MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Plowden will look to assume sole leadership of the Manchester FA Division Two competition when they host Symbolic United at Cross Keys today.

Plowden, following their 3-1 victory over DC Strikers in midweek, are currently level on points (10) and goal difference with Ricam Academy at the top of the table. But should the Cross Keys-based team beat Symbolic, or even record a draw, they will be outfront all by themselves.

And a victory over Symbolic is the most likely prospect, as they, Symbolic, have won only once in four games to find themselves in the lower half of the 16-team standing, on five points.

Meanwhile, three other games will be played today — Georges Valley vs Mandeville United at DeCartet College, Upsetters vs Harmons at Kendal, and Gold Star vs South Star.

Except for the battle of the Stars, which begins at 1:30 pm, also at Cross Keys, all games are set for a 3:30 pm kick-off.

Of those matches, the fixture at DeCartet College could have the biggest impact on the top half of the points standing, as a win for Georges Valley, which looks likely, against third-from-bottom Mandeville United, will improve their tally to 10 points, creating a three-way tie at the summit should 11th-placed Symbolic manage to upstage Plowden.

Meanwhile, in other midweek results, Ricam blanked Mandeville 3-0, while Belair Academy suffered their third defeat of the season, losing 1-4 to Albion, who are now fourth on eight points.
