FLANKER, St James — SANDALS Royal Caribbean won the Sandals Resorts/Divisions Regional six -a- side Football Competition, dethroning defending champions Sandals Montego Bay 1-0 in a penalty shoot-out in the final played at Flanker on Friday.

Andrew Harding's sudden-death penalty kick decided the title after the teams had played out a 0-0 regulation and extra-time score and were still scoreless after the first three penalty kicks.

Harding was later named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the final, while Chaira Adams of Sandals Montego Bay received the award for Leading Goal Scorer.

It was the second straight penalty-kicks win for Sandals Royal Caribbean after they beat Sandals Carlyle in the semi-finals, while Sandals Montego Bay had sailed into the finals on the back of a solid 3-0 beating of Procurement.

The Sandals Montego Bay team had topped the points tables after the regular season with eight points, winning two and drawing the other two games; Sandals Royal Caribbean were second -- winning two, drawing once, losing the other game — and edged Sandals Carlyle on goal difference. Procurement on the other hand advanced to the semis after edging Sandals Marine Division on goal difference as they both finished on three points each.
