MONTEGO BAY, St James — WILLIAM Knibb Memorial's Shavaughn Reid and Muschett High's Lamon Thompson were named Most Valuable Players (MVP) of the recently concluded ISSA/KFC Western Conference high school boys' basketball league at an awards ceremony held at Montego Bay Cricket Club.
Reid dominated the Under-19 awards winning three of the eight sections along with the MVP award, while Thompson won two awards in the Under-16 section.
Meanwhile, two all-star teams were named from each category that will compete against the other Conferences in a competition that will be announced soon, the Observer West understands.
Reid, who guided William Knibb Memorial to fourth place in the Under-19, won the awards for the top-scorer, amassing 322 points from nine games, at an average of just under 36 points per game; top free throw and top three points shooter.
Holland's High School's Kenrick Lindo won two sectional awards — top shot blocker and leading rebounder; Cornwall College's Tevin Brown had the most steals, while Muschett's Shaquille Rose had the most assists.
In addition to the MVP award, Thompson was also the top scorer, playing for the Muschett High Under-16 team that was unbeaten in the regular season.
His teammate, D'Jair Bulgin won the award for the most assists; Herbert Morrison's Ralique Grant had the most steals and his teammate David Peck was the leading rebounder.
Holland High's Shemar Grant was the top shot blocker; Rhodes Hall's Jerome Foster was the top three point shooter, while St James High's Tyrell Foster won the award for the top free throw shooter.
Muschett High which completed undefeated regular seasons dominated the all-stars selections with four in each section.
