Social: With Honours

Friday, September 22, 2017

Four decades in, and the Darlene Jones-led Jamaica Institute of Financial Services (JIFS) which continues its mandate of providing professional development for persons working within the banking sector, rolled out the proverbial red carpet on Wednesday evening to bestow six individuals and companies with honours at its 40th anniversary and awards cocktail at the Spanish Court Hotel's Worthington extension.

Celebrating under the theme, 'Renew, Refocus, Reposition' and highlighted by an address from guest speaker Finance Minister Audley Shaw — who underscored the importance of financial institutions implementing and leveraging single-digit interest rates to woo entrepreneurial start-up businesses, that in turn could grow the economy — the JIFS reception saw guests of bankers sipping libations at the J Wray & Nephew-sponsored watering hole and nibbling on Spanish Court-catered canapés, and of course, lustily applauding each awardee's well-earned recognition, with banking giants Patrick Hylton and Peter Moses topping the field.
