A third serving of Bad Boys

Friday, November 08, 2019

Bad Boys For Life, the third chapter in an action movie franchise that launched 24 years ago, was completed early this week in Miami. At a post-production event at Island Gardens, co-stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence rubbed shoulders with cast members, crew and members of the Inner Circle band.

The latter's song, Bad Boys, is featured in the movie which is scheduled for release on January 20. Smith and Lawrence reprise their roles as detectives Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowery.

At the November 4 get-together were brothers Roger and Ian Lewis of Inner Circle, Bad Boys For Life co-producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and Belgian co-directors Bilall Fallah and Adil El Ardi.

Trailers for the movie were released this month and in September. Bad Boys For Life by P Diddy, Black Rob and Mark Currey is the official theme song.

Smith and Lawrence first teamed-up for Bad Boys in 1995 when there was a great demand in the United States for “buddy” films. The movie featured the reggae song, Bad Boys, a massive comeback hit for Inner Circle in 1993.

Bad Boys and its 2005 sequel, Bad Boys II, performed well at the box office. This prompted speculation there would be a third movie with Smith and Lawrence playing the cantankerous/laid-back Miami cops.

Smith is also co-producer of Bad Boys For Life which also sees Joe Pantiolano returning for a third time as Captain Howard.
