WHILE dancehall artistes Danielle DI and Ishawna are feuding, two other female acts, D'Angel and Spice, are finding a bond and promoting unity through their latest collaborative effort called No Worries.

Speaking with Splash yesterday, D'Angel said they are all about female empowerment and this is strongly highlighted in the song.

“The song has been very well-received and it shows that us female artistes don't have to tear each other down to get a hit. Dancehall needs unity among its females. It is not very often that we see two top female dancehall acts doing collabs, so I hope that others will follow the pattern and let us all unite,” she said.

Released in July of this year it is produced by Good Good Productions.

D'Angel said the collaboration came about after a producer at Good Good Productions sent her the rhythm.

“When I get the beat, I knew that it was supposed to be a collab and Jah Sno Cone told me a concept that would fit it. I link Spice and we both came up with this inspirational single,” she said.

She told Splash that the song came naturally and the vibe and energy was just as fitting inside the recording studios.

“We both wanted to convey an inspirational message through the track and it came out perfectly. Making the song was somewhat effortless as we both had one aim and that was to empower listeners,” she said.

No Worries is a track about overcoming obstacles and giving thanks. She said that she hopes the song will warm the hearts of listeners while healing their battered hearts.

“Both myself and Spice can relate to struggles, jealousy and other negative stuff which we have overcome. Whenever me drop a song, people fi can always relate to it and this one is no different. We knew that it was going to be a hit from we touch the recording studios,” she said.

The dancehall artiste is known for singles such as Stronger and Break Free, which also speak to her struggles and her way out.

In addition to Spice, D'Angel (given name Michelle Downer) has landed several collaborations throughout her career. Among them are Time of My Life with ex-husband Beenie Man, Babyfather with Vybz Kartel and Love Is with Coco Tea.

On September 30, the singjay will be honoured at the Image Entertainment Distinction Award (IED) for her contribution to empowering music. The ceremony will be held at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York.
