'Tegat' makes debut with Super League club

MONTEGO BAY, St James — Paul 'Tegat' Davis, who just recently cut ties with Red Stripe Premier League outfit Arnett Gardens, will start his stint as coach of Western Confederation Super League team Tomorrow's People this afternoon when they take on former champions Granville United at Jarrett Park, starting at 3:00.

Davis, who has been in charge of several teams in the Premier League, will seek to lead Tomorrow's People to their first ever hold on the title after several trips to the semi-finals.

Also today, former champions Reno FC will go after win number two on the trot when they host Holland United at Frome after both teams scored opening wins last week, while promoted team Norwood Strikers and Bamboo will meet at the UDC field.

On Sunday, three teams scored their first wins. Village United, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, had a hardfought 3-2 win over Petersfield as both finished with 10 players each. Catherine Hall beat Logwood, 3-0, and Harmony edged Wadadah, 1-0.

At the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium, Village raced to a 3-0 first-half lead, but two goals from Hugo Hall in the second half gave them a scare.

Shaunavan McKenzie gave Village a dream start with a goal in the first minute, while Romando Anderson made it 2-0 after 15 minutes and Lacon Brissett added a third in the 44th.

Despite going a man down in the 40th when Randy Green was sent off, Petersfield fought their way back through Hall, who pulled one back in the 53rd and then added a second in the 67th.

Anderson became the second Village player in successive games to be red-carded when he was sent off in the second half.

Harmony maintained their winning ways over Wadadah, beating them, 1-0, for the second straight meeting between the teams, thanks to a Jeff Pearce 71st-minute goal.

The win took Harmony to four points and joint leaders with Catherine Hall, who got goals from Carter Bennett in the 36th, Andre Barrett in the 70th and Jahmal Morrison in the 75th.

Today's Schedule:

Norwood Strikers vs Bamboo @ UDC

Reno vs Holland @ Frome

Tomorrow's People vs Granville @ Jarrett Park
