KINGSTON, Jamaica — The West Indies beat New Zealand by five wickets today to complete a 2-0 Digicel Test series win and a first home victory since clipping England 1-0 in 2009.

Starting today on 135-4 and still needing 71 runs to win, the regional team rode on the back of Shivnarine Chanderpaul's 43 not out to pull off a relatively comfortable run-chase.

Scores: New Zealand 260 (82.5 overs) and 154 (65.2 overs); West Indies 209 (64.3 overs) and 206-5 (63.2 overs).

Night watchman Kemar Roach released any early morning jitters with an attacking 41 that left the New Zealand bowlers visibly frustrated.

The in-form batsman Marlon Samuels, scorer of classy century in the first innings, made a top score of 52 yesterday to be handed the player of the match award.

Pacer Kemar Roach finished with 12 wickets in the two matches and was awarded the player of the series honour.
