FOLLOWING their 5-1 hiding on the road on Sunday, Arnett Gardens returned home to crawl to a disappointing 0-0 draw in their midweek Red Stripe Premier League game against bottom-placed team August Town at the Anthony Spaulding Sport Complex yesterday.

In other results: Cavalier beat Tivoli Gardens 3-1 at Stadium East, while Humble Lion and Boys’ Town drew 1-1 at Effortville Community Centre. At the Anthony Spaulding Sport Complex neither team played with purpose and the game turned out to be a spectator’s nightmare with neither team distinguishing themselves.

It was only in the dying moments of the game that play picked up on the home side with the introduction of Troy Reid.

The former Reno and Waterhouse player set about in his industrious way to give Arnett Gardens some hope of breaking the deadlock as they went very close on a few occasions that gave the visitors some anxious moments.

Jabeur Johnson went closest from a nice build-up that began with Reid’s through ball to Kenniel Hyde, in time added.

The display irked the Arnett Gardens head coach Jerome Waite: “It was a disappointing draw... we will just have to refocus to meet our next game.

All that I can add is that these players will have to improve their game if we are to reach the last four at the end of the third round.”

August Town coach Baris Johnson, who was also not satisfied with his team’s performance, offered: “When you look at the game tactically, I think we will have to shift around some things with the group.

We must give the team some credit to come here and draw the game, as with a bit more depth and a little more zeal we could have put away one or two chances that came our way to earn a better result, but we are still working to fine-tune that area of our game.”
