DEFENDING champions Jamalco, along with Waulgrovians 'A' and Tivoli 'A' registered their second straight wins in the 2010 Berger Paints/Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) Super League competition at the Leila Robinson Courts on Thursday evening.

Jamalco, coached by Winston Nevers, defeated Arnett Gardens 'A' 53-21. The defending champions never showed their true skills until the second quarter after leading 11-7 at the end of the first to lead 29-13 at the half-time break.

The third quarter saw the defending champions outscoring Arnett by 11 goals to two for a 40-15 lead and added 13 more goals in the fourth quarter to win handsomely. Shooters Elaine Davis shot 29 from 35 attempts, and Marsha Murphy, 24 goals from 31, while Shelly-Ann Williams netted 11 from 20 efforts for Arnett 'A'.

Meanwhile, former many-time champions Waulgrovians 'A' brushed aside SKIBO 'A' 73-19. The Marvette Anderson/Patrick Brissett-coached Waulgrovians outpaced, outplayed and out shoot the Wayne Stewart-coached SKIBO in all four quarters. The defeat was the second straight for SKIBO 'A' in two games.

Waulgrovians led 18-8, 33-16 at half-time, then outscored SKIBO in the third quarter 17-3 before blanking them 20-0 in the fourth quarter. Janielle Fowler led the scoring for the winners by netting 64 goals from 74 attempts, while teammate Christina Solmon scored 25 from 32. Samantha White got 11 from 19 for the losers.

Tivoli 'A' defeated their club mates Tivoli 'B' 43-23. Sylvester Campbell, who coached both teams, allowed them to play on their own. They were locked 7-7 at the completion of the first quarter before the Tivoli 'A' eased away to a 19-13 lead at half-time.

The winners used three shooters, Cleopatra Grant 17 from 23, Jodi Ann Kentish 14 from 26 and Oberon Pitterson 12 fro 18. Patricia Chambers scored 16 from 20 attempts for Tivoli 'B'.

Windalco produced a fighting 54-39 win over Police 'A'. who were losing their second straight game from as many starts. Windalco led throughout the match. At half-time the winners lead 28-17.

Mico Netball Club picked up their first win from two outings by scoring a 34-20 win over GC Foster Strikers 'A'. It was the first defeat for GC Foster 'A' from two starts. Mico led all the way as at half-time they were in front 23-9.

The Berger Super League continues this afternoon with Arnett Gardens 'A' vs Windalsco at 4:45 pm; defending champions JAMALCO vs Tivoli "B" at 5:50 pm Mico vs Tivoli "A"; Police "A" vs SKIBO "A"; GC Foster Strikers 'A' vs Waulgrovians 'A' at 7:00 p.m.

Matches are also scheduled in the Supreme Ventures Division 'A' and 'C' Leagues and the Western Union Division 'B' League. The first round of games begins at the Leila Robinson Courts at 12:30 pm.
