Bethel Town Strikers win Noranda Bauxite Trophy

BETHEL Town Strikers won the 2014 Noranda Bauxite Trophy for the senior division of the St Ann Netball Association parish tournament in the final played on Sunday.

Bethel Town defeated Brown’s Town Masters 36- 31 in a close encounter at the Port Rhoades Sports Club in Discovery Bay.

The winning team received $80,000 courtesy of Noranda, sponsors of the parish-wide competition. Twelve teams competed in the competition which commenced on Sunday, June 16.

Glasgow Youth Club defeated Eltham 30-24 in the finals of the intermediate section. St Ann Netball Association President Constantine Cunningham congratulated the clubs for their discipline and high standards of play, which he said attracted large crowds to the matches played at the Port Rhoades club each Sunday evening.
