GUATEMALA City, Guatemala — Jamaica's Reggae Boyz hit the ground running yesterday as they arrived here focused on their crucial CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying semi-final play-off game at the Mateo Flores Stadium on Friday at 8:00 pm (9:00 pm Jamaica time).

Twenty-one of the 24-man squad had arrived at the Hotel Vista Real team base around 2:00 pm local time, and after having lunch, journeyed to the Estadio Manuel Felipe Carrera 'El Trebol', home of Club Social Y Deportivo Municipal for a loosening up session which went on for more than an hour before being curtailed by unseasonal rain.

Lovell Palmer, who played for Portland Timber MSL outfit on Sunday night, along with DuWayne Kerr and Andrae Campbell, who play in Europe, are yet to join the camp but were expected last night.

The local-based portion of the group, as well as Dane Richards, the technical and support staff, departed Jamaica yesterday and were met in Miami by the overseas-based players.

Upon arrival in Guatemala, the team encountered the usual bombardment by the press before being escorted by police to the hotel.

Head coach Theodore Whitmore had promised a light session and they did just that with a technical session of control and passing, as well as stretching before assistant Alfredo Montesso introduced a half-field scrimmage.

Whitmore and his technical staff, especially Dr Carlton Fraser, will be keeping a keen eye on midfielder Rodolph Austin, who is nursing a twisted left ankle sustained in his last game for Leeds in the English Leagues.

The team is scheduled for another session at the venue today and the technical staff has opted to bring the session forward by half hour to maximise the daylight.

The Jamaican contingent here includes: Raymond Grant - Head of Delegation; Walter Gama - Technical Director; Theodore Whitmore - Head Coach; Alfredo Montesso - Assistant Coach; Armando Bracali - Goalkeeper Coach; Andre Waugh - Physical Trainer was expected in last night; Luciano Gama - Coach; Dr Carlton Fraser - Team Doctor; Juan Pablo Camargo - Masseur; Roy Simpson - Team Manager; Norman Stone - Equipment Manager; Karl Thomas - Team Chef. Players: Ewan Grandison, Jacomeno Barrett, Andre Lewis, Joel Senior, Jermaine Hue, Shavar Thomas, Je-Vaughn Watson, Jermaine Taylor, Dane Richards, Omar Cummings, Ryan Johnson, Dicoy Williams, Nyron Nosworthy, Adrian Marriappa, Jason Morrison, Demar Phillips, Tramaine Stewart, Dwayne Miller, Luton Shelton, Rodolph Austin and Kavin Bryan.
