Business House Football semis on today
Saturday, September 01, 2012
Former champions Scotiabank Group will oppose UWI in the feature semi-final of a double-header in the 2012 Western Sports-sponsored Business House Football Division One competition today at the UWI Bowl, Mona, starting at 3:30 pm.
In the curtain-raiser two hours earlier, Xerox and National Commercial Bank will play in the Division Two semi-final.
The other Division Two semi-final will see GraceKennedy playing Red Stripe at the NWC playing field starting at 3:30 pm. Scotiabank Group will be trying to defeat UWI for the third time this season, having clipped them 2-1 in their first meeting and 1-0 in the knockout competition. Scotiabank have not lost a match in the league competition this season, and they came second in the zone on 21 points, two behind defending champions Petrojam. UWI finished third on 16 points.
In the curtain-raiser, NCB and Xerox will try to see who will be victorious, as they played to a 2-2 tie in their preliminary round game in July.
The Christopher Bender-coached Red Stripe, who squeezed into the semi-final on Wednesday, due to JNBS holding ISCF to a 1-1 draw, will be looking to Tyrone Crossfield, Nicholas Folkes, Wayne Clough, Kevin Reid, Anthony and Jeffery Sounders for victory, while coach Peter Davis is expecting Andrew Chisholm, Dexter Genius, Dwayne Atkinson, Clayton Tucker, Damion Rankine, and Karet Hosang for victory and promotion to Division One football next season.
The other Division One semi-final will be a repeat of last Sunday's knockout final with defending champion Petrojam playing Wisynco Group next Monday at the NWC playing field, Mona, at 3:30 pm.
