C'Hall rebound 1-0 over nemesis Granville

WESTGREEN, St James — Catherine Hall FC avenged their first-round loss to Granville FC at Westgreen on Sunday to take over the lead in Zone 1 of the Captain's Bakery Confederation Super League.

Omar Christie scored his first goal of the season since moving from Montego Bay United in the second half of a competitive game as the Catherine Hall won the game despite playing with 10 players since the 29th minute when Orion Dennis was sent off.

Catherine Hall's win took them to 16 points, one more than Wadadah FC, who got points from Frome who failed to show as Granville slipped to third place, also on 15 points, but with an inferior goal difference to Wadadah.

Christie, an overlapping left full-back, beat Granville's goalkeeper Zavhia Hutchinson with a low, vicious left-footer from outside the area in the 65th minute.

Granville got several chances to at least draw level, but Odean Snow and Derrick Henry both missed simple chances.

Savannah rebounded from their big loss last week to extend their lead in Zone 2 after edging Fogo United, 1-0, at Truro, with the veteran Kendrick Quarrie scoring the winner in the 82nd minute as the Westmoreland team scored a league high sixth win.

Tomorrow's People continued their relentless march up the tables, winning their fourth game of the round, the only team with a 100 per cent record in the second round, after blanking Bamboo FC, 2-0, at Bamboo to move into second place, three points behind Savannah's 18.

Gregory Tape kept up his torrid scoring pace to move to five as he scored in the 70th minute, while Ricardo Scott added a second in the 81st.

Tape, who played Premier League football with Benfica last season, is tied on the goal scoring charts with Catherine Hall's Andre Barrett and Gavin Seaton, who scored a hat-trick to pilot Jericho Rangers to a big 6-3 come-from-behind win over Invaders at Elgin Town.

Seaton scored in the 45th, 49th and 67th minutes; Ricardo Allen scored twice and Evol Headley got the other for the Hanover club after Romaine Nelson had given Invaders the lead as early as the second minute then added another in the 86th.

Harmony scored a 2-1 win over last-placed and relegation-threatened Mt Pelier at Bounty Hall.

Kenardo Wilson opened the scoring for Harmony in the 13th minute and Dean-Lloyd Reid scored the winner in the 88th after Steve Russell had equalised in the 78th.

The second round will end this weekend.
