MAY PEN, Clarendon — Four Paths are the new leaders of the Clarendon/Captain's Bakery Major League after benefitting from Original Hazard's no-show in last weekend's fourth-round fixture at Cross.
The newcomers, one of two remaining unbeaten sides, gained three points and three goals from the fixture to overtake three teams for the lead on 10 points.
Original Hazard, in the meantime, are pointless in four games and remained in eighth but could slip further down the standings should ninth-placed York Town win their game in hand.
The other promoted side, Jamalco, likewise New Bowens, lost their perfect record following narrow defeats at the weekend.
Jamalco, who had not conceded in their previous three games, suffered a 0-1 defeat in stoppage time to Milk River at Path Side on Sunday after Jameal Forrester netted his third goal of the season in minute 91.
Bowens were upstaged 0-1 at Gimme-Me-Bit following Dwight Powell's 50th-minute strike.
The results mean that Jamalco slipped one point and one place adrift of new leaders Four Paths second, while Bowens dropped to fourth, also on nine points, but with an inferior goal difference.
Milk River, who were returning to winning ways following their previous 1-2 loss at Bowens, assumed third spot, two points ahead of fifth-placed Wood Hall who could go joint top should they win their game in hand against York Town.
Meanwhile, Clovis Steele scored his second goal of the season to give mid-table outfit Rock River their second win of the season following a 1-0 defeat of last-paced Longwood at Clarendon College in Chapelton.
Longwood, who have suffered defeats in all four games played thus far, will have yet another chance to earn their first point of the season when they host fellow strugglers Original Hazard in fifth-round action at the Monymusk Sports Club today, starting at 3:00 pm.
