Saturday, September 29, 2012
The Institute of Sports (INSPORTS) in association with the Howard Aris Foundation, the South St Andrew Sport Council and the Jamaica Table Tennis Association (JTTA) will host a one-day table tennis seminar at the Caribbean Palms Community Centre located at 88-100 Spanish Town Road.
Start time for the five-hour seminar is 9:00 am. Registration fee is $500.
Chief instructor will be national coach of the JTTA Stephen Grant, who will be seeking to impart and enhance the fundamental knowledge of the sport at the community, primary and high school levels.
The initiative forms part of a new thrust to spread the growth and development of table tennis starting in these areas, according to INSPORTS sport officer, Godfrey Lothian, who is managing the table tennis portfolio at the state-run sport agency.
Representatives participating in the seminar will come from Greenwich Town Primary, St Andrew Primary, Cockburn Pen, Whitfield Town, Tavares Gardens, St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS), Haile Selassie High, Denham Town and Chetolah Park.
Each selected school/community received table tennis rackets and balls courtesy of the Institute of Sports, Lothian disclosed.
