PB
Wednesday, September 12, 2012
NICHOLAS Addlery and Amani Walker kept up their goal-scoring exploits in the North American Soccer League Saturday night.
Addlery, 30, scored his ninth goal from 21 matches when his right-footed shot in the third minute featured in Puerto Rico Islanders 1-1 draw with Fort Lauderdale Strikers at the Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
Brazilian Wellington Pecka equalised six minutes later from a Hosman Ramos pass for Fort Lauderdale to stay two points behind third-placed Islanders, who are on 37 points from 25 matches. The Strikers are in fourth-place with 35 from 26.
With three more matches to go, Addlery has already surpassed his seven goals in the NASL last season and has moved up to number four on the scorer's list after San Antonio Scorpions' Pablo Campos (18 goals), Carolina Railhawks' Nick Zimmerman (13 goals), and the Strikers' Mark Anderson (11 goals).
Averaging a goal every 146 minutes, Addlery is expected to end the season in double figures with a home-and-away game against Minnesota Stars, team of Amani Walker, and another match against cellar team Atlanta Silverbacks.
Walker, meanwhile, netted his sixth goal from 18 matches when Minnesota drew 1-1 with FC Edmonton at the National Sports Center Stadium in Blaine, Minnesota.
