As part of the celebration of their 50th anniversary of Independence, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, are to play in two twenty-20 cricket tournaments in Florida and Trinidad and Tobago in August.
National cricket coach Junior Bennett confirmed that a Jamaica squad will take on Trinidad and Tobago on August 10 and 11 in Florida. Both teams will then be part of a four-team tournament in Trinidad and Tobago August 22 -27.
Bennett said the tournaments would provide an opportunity for warm up and exposure for players prior to the regional T-20 tournament in January.
"We've wanted to give some exposure to some of our youngsters in the T-20 format of the game and this is an excellent opportunity to do so. It will also be good preparation for everyone ahead of the regional tournament," said Bennett. Trinidad and Tobago are preparing for the Champions League T-20 tournament later this year.
Both Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago achieved political Independence from Britain in August 1962.
A Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) source said there was also a proposal for a US team to visit Jamaica for two fifty-50 games between August 16 and 19.
