AFTER four days of challenging golf at the RBC 56TH Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships, Jamaica finished third overall in the team competition.
The Ramon Baez Cup team finished tied in second with Puerto Rico. The team of Keith Stein and Sean Morris shot 72 on the final day, their highest score of the championships. The Dominican Republic captured this category with rounds of 70, 64, 68 and 70.
Jamaica's senior team of Robert Chin and Radcliff Knibbs faced some stiff competition for the Francis & Steele-Perkins Trophy, but ended the event in second place, tied with Barbados and Puerto Rico.
The Bahamas won with 296 strokes, two strokes ahead of Barbados, Jamaica and Puerto Rico.
Dennis Atkinson and Opeton Marshall captured third position in the Higgs & Higgs Cup with 304 strokes. Trinidad & Tobago captured this event with 286, while Puerto Rico were second with 289.
Jodi Barrow provided experience for the Jamaican team in the ladies competition, partnered by Sherisse Walker and Rochelle Prince, who both made their debut in the event this year.
Trinidad and Tobago also won this segment of the event. Puerto Rico and Cayman finished second and third, respectively.
The Hoerman Cup team of Ian Facey, Wesley Brown, Fabian Campbell, William Knibbs and Jonathan Newnham ended the competition in fifth position. The home team from the OECS won the Hoerman Cup Trophy. The Dominican Republic finished second and Puerto Rico was third.
The Championship was played at the Royal St Kitts Golf Club and was sponsored by RBC Royal Bank.
