Jamaica, T&T to clash in Florida
Thursday, August 09, 2012
LAUDERHILL, Florida (CMC) — Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago will clash in two Twenty20 matches at the Central Broward Regional Park Cricket Stadium here on tomorrow and Saturday.
The games form part of the two countries' Golden Jubilee celebration and come on the heels of historic matches between West Indies and New Zealand.
Jamaica celebrated its 50th anniversary on Monday, while celebrations in Trinidad and Tobago are due to climax August 31.
Organisers are yet to announce the names of the players to represent the two sides in the night matches, both of which are scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.
"Cricket isn't just a sport," said Anil Ramnanan, Trinidad and Tobago's Consul General in Miami, whose consulate is promoting the event along with Miami's Jamaican Consulate General.
"Cricket is a language, and the history of the West Indies could be told in the tale of cricket," he added.
The Central Broward Regional Park Cricket Stadium was the venue of the historic 20/20 International matches between the West Indies and New Zealand a few weeks ago.
West Indies won the first by 56 runs and the second by 61 runs.
