In the final preliminary round game on Tuesday, the Jamaicans, first time entrants at this level, completed a maiden win over South American powerhouses Brazil to secure a place in the second stage.
Playing today without the team's leader Samardo Samuels, the JamrockerZ were guided by shooting guard Weyinmi Rose, who scored a remarkable 20 points in the fourth quarter to end with 24.
The powerfully-built Adrian Uter had 10 points to go with 11 rebounds, while point guard Akem Scott notched 12 points.
Luis Scola led Argentina with 22 points.
With the win, Jamaica moved to six points, only one behind the Argentines. Heading into today's matches, the tournament favourites Puerto Rico led with eight points.
