HAYES, Clarendon — Jamalco scored twice in the last four minutes to blank Longwood 2-0 on Thursday to maintain their perfect start to the Clarendon/Captain's Bakery Major League season.
The promoted side went into the game, played at the Wembley Sports Club in Hayes, as the favourites but were unable to break Longwood's resistance until the 88th minute when Mickardo Lawl fired home.
Cellar dwellers Longwood were then dealt another blow deep into stoppage time as Denbigh High striker Roshane Sharpe added a second goal for the hosts in minute 91.
The result saw Garfield Carney's side joining New Bowens atop the standings on nine points, but boast a better goal difference of +6 to Bowens' +4.
In other results, Four Paths — the other promoted team — also stretched their unbeaten start to three games following a comfortable 2-0 win over York Town on Wednesday.
The win, which came at the Four Paths Community Centre, carried the hosts within two points of the front two in fourth, while York Town slipped two places down to ninth following three successive defeats.
Meanwhile, Original Hazard and Gimme-Me-Bit earned their first point of the season after battling out a 1-1 stalemate in Gimme-Me-Bit.
The result was, however, not good enough to lift them from the bottom half of the table as they remain in seventh and eighth places, respectively.
