Keeping it real! New goalie Messam to boost Lion

MAY PEN, Clarendon — Humble Lion coach Lenworth Hyde Snr is hoping the combination of new signing Joel Messam, Garth Herron and Peter Harrison will be good enough to solve his goalkeeping problems.
The Clarendon side used no fewer than four 'keepers last season as they struggled to find a suitable replacement for veteran goalie Shawn Sawyers.
Of the quartet, which included Damion Crooks and Philmore Crumbie, young Herron shone the brightest last season and Hyde is now hoping a rivalry with the experienced Messam can be a success for the club.
"We had a lot of problems in that area (last season), but we have (three) goalkeepers that we are trying to work with, so we just have to hope that they will get the job done," Hyde said.
"We have Harrison from Tivoli, who is injured now," the former Portmore coach added. "Garth has really improved a lot and I know Messam (formerly of Waterhouse and Arnett Gardens) should bring a lot of experience to the team."
