KINGSTON, Jamaica -- Birmingham City striker and former Reggae Boy Marlon King was arrested after a hit-and-run which left a man in hospital on Saturday night, according to reports in the British press.

The collision occurred near London's West End and the 33-year-old King has been released on bail until September by City of London Police, the Daily Mail said.

“The guy was hit by a car, possibly a Mercedes, not far from Paddington station. He got a knock to the head but the driver didn't stop to see if he was OK,” an eyewitness reportedly told The Sun.

“The police were called pretty quickly.”

The former Nottingham Forest, Watford and Coventry City man was detained by police in Lancaster Gate.

King was handed a free transfer by Birmingham hours before the incident and his agent, who was aware of the accident, refused to comment further, media reports say.

It is not the first time the forward has found himself the wrong side of the law, having previously been jailed for assault in 2009.
