A six-timer by Andrae Mitchell carried Super Action Youth Club to a 9-1 mauling of eight-man Vineyard Youth Club at Mountainside in a crucial game in the St Elizabeth Wray and Nephew Major League on Tuesday.
In the other game, former champions Tafari Lion suffered their second straight defeat in less than a week after they were beaten 2-1 by Appleton Estates.
They were defeated by the same margin last Thursday by the Kurt Brooks Super Action team.
Mitchell, who now leads the goalscoring standing from just one game, struck in the sixth, 28th, 31st, 33rd, 56th and 73rd minutes.
Derrick Thomas, 17th, Richard Malcolm in the 51st and Oraine Rhoden in the 89th got the other goals for the Burnt Savannah-based team.
Elton Ricketts got the lone goal in the 42nd minute for Vineyard.
The victory pushed them to 10 points with previous leaders Mountainside, but with a better goal average to top the league going into the Christmas break.
At Lacovia where the Lion, who have suffered some setback with some players not reporting for matches, were trailing early in the first half after former STETHS player Kino Smith made it 1-0.
Appleton, who are coached by Andrew Edwards, who is also the coach of STETHS, dominated the game from the start and midway the first half, Smith -- a bit overweight and who also scored two goals in their 4-0 beating of Treasure Beach last week Saturday -- got his after running into the right position to make it 2-0.
However, in the second half, the Vinceroy Blake-coached team came out with a plan, but could manage to pull one back. The competition will resume on January 2 with three matches.
