KINGSTON, Jamaica — New Zealand continued to rally on the opening day of second Test match at Sabina Park to reach the tea break at 152-3 thanks to half-century knocks from captain Ross Taylor and opener Martin Guptill.

Guptill, batting solidly and patiently, is unbeaten on 62, while Ross Taylor was dismissed by speedster Tino Best for 60.

Kane Williamson is the other not out batsman on 17.

Earlier West Indies captain Darren Sammy won the toss and opted to send the tourists in to take first strike and the ploy seemed to work as two wickets fell within the first six overs.

BJ Watling was dismissed by pacer Kemar Roach, while Brendon McCallum fell to Best before Guptill and Taylor put together a century stand for the third wicket.

Scores: New Zealand 152-3 (52 overs)
