National suffer bitter defeat in domino league

NATIONAL Baking Company suffered their first defeat, bowing 109-140 to Wray & Nephew in the fourth round of the National Association of Domino Bodies Kingston & St Andrew Region Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum Business House League last Thursday.

Having won their previous three games comfortably, National Baking Company were no match for the knockout champions at home.

Berger Paints Jamaica Limited were also losing their first game, going down 113-153 to Kingston Wharves at home at 256 Spanish Town Road.

The only team with a perfect record in the top division is the Gleaner Company, who crushed Division Two champions Cari-Med 160-105 at home, making it four wins from as many games.

In other games, Carib Cement Company edged Courts Sports Club 152-151 at Rockfort, defending champions Seprod Limited stopped Jamaica Brandy 120-118, and UWI Domino Club defeated JUTC 132-121.

In Division Two, National Commercial Bank (NCB) maintained their perfect start, while Jamaica Observer suffered their first defeat.

NCB blanked Flow 155-101 and Jamaica Observer went down narrowly 148-149 to Petrojam at 96 Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston.

In other results, Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) defeated Kirk Distributors Limited 152-147 in a high-scoring game; Ministry of Finance stopped Pepsi-Cola Jamaica 141-131; Nutrition Products blew away National Housing Trust (NHT) 145-126; and First Heritage CCU opened their winning account with a 144-130 victory over Transport Authority at 119 Maxfield Avenue.

The first round of the knockout championship takes place today at NHT at 4 Park Boulevard, New Kingston.

Petrojam will face Transport Authority, Jamaica Observer will welcome the challenge from JUTC, Kirk Distributors Limited will battle BOJ, NCB take on Ministry of Finance, First Heritage CCU will square off with Kingston Wharves, Carib Cement Company will meet Flow, Pepsi-Cola Jamaica will face NHT, Cari-Med tackle Campari, Gleaner Company will eye victory over UWI Sports Club, Seprod will face Nutrition Products, Courts battle Berger Paints Jamaica Limited, and defending knockout champions Wray & Nephew will start their defence against National Baking Company.

Games are scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm.
