Ominous H'View move atop standings

HARBOUR View moved ato the Red Stripe Premier League standings for the first time this season after cruising to a 4-0 win over promoted side Cavalier at Harbour View on Sunday.
John-Ross Edwards (20th minute), Jermie Lynch (38th), Damion Harwood (55th) and Ranique Muir (77th) netted for the home team, who are now tied with Sporting Central and Arnett Gardens on 16 points, but lead on goal difference.
Harbour View coach Vin Blaine said his team is slowly getting into form and he now has an eye on the first End-of-Round Final.
"We were unfortunate in a couple of our first games.. or we would be far ahead right now, but we've been consistent and our aim now is to make it to the End-of-Round Final," he said.
Cavalier started brightly and had a couple of half chances in the opening 10 minutes, but Harbour View gradually settled and after Edward fired them in front from Robert Williams' cross, the visitors offerred very little.
Seven minutes before the break, Lynch made it 2-0 when he redirected a Kemeel Wolfe cross past David Mitchell in the Cavalier goal, but the custodian — who also blundered on the first goal — must take the blame after appearing to hold the ball initially, then letting it slip from his grasp.
Ten minutes into the second half Eric Vernan delivered a perfect cross for Harwood to head home at the far past, but the striker injured himself against the post and had to be replaced.
His replacement, Muir, sealed the win with a fine strike with 12 minutes remaining, slamming home from six yards.
With no points from their last four games and sitting second-from-bottom with six points, coach David Laylor, said while Cavalier are still searching for the right combinations of players, the finishing has been letting them down.
"Today we just didn't score our goals and they scored their goals... but we're not fully in our strides and we're trying to fix it... We're working to find the right blend," he said.
