Ominous Old Harbour move on in SDC T20

THE national phase of the Social Development Commission (SDC) Twenty20 Community Cricket Competition continued last week with reigning champions Old Harbour hammering hosts Rosend of St Mary by 119 runs in a Group D match at Eden Park.

Ronville Brown and Rovman Powell struck identical scores of 70 in Old Harbour's massive 211-3 off 20 overs.

Scores: Old Harbour 211-3 (20 overs); Rosend 92-9 (20 overs)

In the other Group D match at Eden Park, the wildcard team Bridgeport comfortably beat Portland's Rio United by six wickets.

Shane Brooks top-scored with 48 in Bridgeport's successful chase. Scores: Rio United 117-9 (20 overs); Bridgeport 118-4 (14.4 overs)

In the Group A clash at Maxfield Park, Whitehall of Kingston & St Andrew North lost to last season's third-placed team Waltham Police Youth Club by seven wickets in a match that was reduced to 16 overs-a-side.

Scores: Whitehall 106-6 (16 overs); Waltham PYC 110-3 (12.4 overs). Also in Group A, Portmore Pines beat Yallahs by four wickets at Maxfield Park.

Wicketkeeper/batsman Terrence Brown hit 45 not out in Portmore Pines' run-chase. Scores: Yallahs 96 (18.2 overs); Portmore Pines 100-6 (17 overs)

In Group B, St Ann-based Content Gardens, last year's runners-up, edged Manchester's French Park by three wickets at the Racecourse Oval in Clarendon. Scores: French Park 90 (19.2 overs); Content 94-7 (13.3 overs)

The seasoned Racecourse outfit eased to a 60-run win over Clarks Town of Trelawny at the Racecourse Oval.

Jason Wedderburn powered 94 not out for Racecourse, while Clarks Town's Dhane Johnson (61) was the leading runs-getter for his team. Scores: Racecourse 194-5 (20 overs); Clarks Town 134 (19.2 overs)

Petersville of Westmoreland defeated neighbours Logwood of Hanover by nine wickets at Manley Horne Park in a Group C encounter.

National Twenty20 opener Kenar Lewis struck 74 for Petersville.

Scores: Logwood 115-6; Petersville 119-1

In the other Group C match, hosts Ballards Valley of St Elizabeth overwhelmed St James' Farm Heights by 153 runs at the Manley Horne Park.

Daniel Ricketts starred with 102 for Ballards Valley.

Scores: Ballards Valley 233-7 (20 overs); Farm Heights 80 (11.3 overs)
