DRAX HALL, St Ann — Highgate remain winless in the Red Stripe Premier League after losing 1-0 to Portmore United at Drax Hall on Sunday.
In a game that ended with both teams having 10 men on the pitch, Paul Wilson's 26th-minute strike made all the difference.
Portmore started out attacking through Paul Wilson, Ricardo Morris, Trevol Smith and Damian Williams, but they were resisted by Anthowe Dawkins and Andre Dyce.
Portmore got the goal when Wilson dribbled down the right flank, moved into the penalty box and fired to the left of Maurice Evans.
The second half saw Highgate leading the attack through Roberta Fletcher, Carlos Barrett, Donovan Davis and Severo Murphy, but stout defending by Ryan Wellington, Rosario Harriott and custodian Kemar Foster kept them at bay.
Referee Kevin Morrison sent Portmore's Ryan Williams and Highgate's Roberta Fletcher for early showers after a punch-up between the two in time added.
