Penn names Holmwood's Grange athlete of the meet

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Holmwood Techincal’s Gleneve Grange was named the 2012 Penn Relays High School Girls’ athlete of the meet for individual events after she set new meet and national junior records yesterday.

Grange threw 54.29 metres to set a new personal best in the discus.

Tara-Sue Barnett of Edwin Allen, the pre-event favourite, was second in 50.02 metres while her schoolmate Paul-Ann Gayle was fourth with 45.78.

Third went to American schoolgirl Jessica Woodard, who threw 47.70m, of Cherokee High.

The former record of 51.02 metres was set by Edwin Allen’s Danniel Thomas set the last year.
