RBC stun NCB in Inter-Bank football

RBC Royal Bank created the biggest upset of the JNBS/Western Norman Goodison Inter-Bank football competition when they defeated former champions National Commercial Bank (NCB), 3-2, on Sunday at Emmet Park.

Rohan Findlay scored a brace to give RBC their second ever victory over NCB, having last defeated them in 1996.

NCB took the lead in the 15th minute when Victory Riley tapped past goalkeeper Michael Russell. Rohan Findlay equalised in the 26th after he slipped his marker an beat goalkeeper Andre Cunninghan as the half ended 1-1.

George Clarke gave NCB the lead in the 48th as he bested Russell from close range to make it 2-1. However, Findlay made it 2-2 in the 75th after receiving a defence-splitting pass from Paul Heslop and lobbing the advancing Cunningham.

Substitute Kelvin Lawrence got the winner from the spot in the 83rd when defender Carlton Rowe fouled Findlay in the box.

Meanwhile, defending champions Scotiabank Group clobbered the returning JMMB, 9-0, with Jamoy Sibblies scoring a hat-trick in the 33rd, 58th and 63rd and Anthony Greenland (11th and 45th) getting a double.

Donovan Hibbert, Richard West, Christopher Buchanan and captain Stefan Bartley also found the net.

At the NWC field, former champions JNBS and Bank of Jamaica (BoJ) played to a 1-1 draw. Damaine Ball gave JNBS the lead in the 36th, while Ewan Thomas got the equaliser in the 60th for BOJ.

The league continues thius Sunday with CIBC/FCIB vs Scotiabank at 2:00 pm and BOJ vs Pan Caribbean/Sagicor at Emmet Park at 4:00 pm. It's also JNBS vs NCB at 3:00 pm at NWC.
