MONTEGO BAY, St James — Promoted St James Football Association Senior League team Reggae Youths and Montego Bay United's Under-21 team advanced to the third round of the Captain's Bakery and Grill Knockout on Saturday after scoring 2-1 wins over Revelations and Seaview FC, respectively.
Reggae Youths and MBU Under-21 now join Melbourne United, who won on Friday, Granville United, Norwood Strikers and Montego Bay in the third round, while Wadadah FC had been given a bye.
The third round gets underway on Wednesday with a double header at Jarrett Park featuring Montego Bay United and Wadadah in the feature game at 6:00 pm.
On Saturday, both Reggae Youths, winners of last year's Division One, and MBU Under-21 scored easy wins.
At Wespow Park in Tucker, Michael McLeod's ninth-minute penalty conversion and Ocarey Spence's 17th-minute goal staked Reggae Youths to an early 2-0 lead.
Conroy Clarke's 59th-minute goal gave Revelation some hope, but that was as close as they came.
Akeem McCarthy in the 16th minute and Donovan Carey in the 29th gave MBU Under-21 a solid cushion over Seaview at the UDC field before a last minute goal from Daina Heaven cut the deficit.
On Friday, Melbourne FC eliminated Little Miami on penalty kicks after they had played to a 1-1 scoreline.
Melbourne won 3-2 to set up a meeting with MBU's Under-21 team next Saturday at Westpow Park.
