Reno look to regain lead in Western Confed Super League

MONTEGO BAY, St James -- Title favourites Reno FC should return to the top of the points table in the Captain's Bakery Western Confederation Super League today when they take on Prosper FC in a rescheduled return-round game at Frome, starting at 3:30 pm.

The game was originally scheduled for Sunday, along with the other 17th round matches, but was pushed back as Frome FC also had a home game at the same venue.

Seba United joined Reno on 44 points on Sunday after turning back Mt Pelier 4-1 at Jarrett Park, but still trail on goal difference, so a win by Reno today will see the margin increase.

Reno had won the first round game 4-0 and given that Prosper have conceded a league-high 51 goals, 14 in this round without scoring, could be in for a long afternoon against the third highest scoring team in the competition.

A win by Reno today would eliminate all but one other club, Seba from winning the competition, making it a two-team race for the remainder of the season.

Reno''s 33 goals scored, trail only Seba's tally of 36 and Frome's 35 that also include 13 in one game against Prosper in the previous round.

Seba, meanwhile, stayed close to the leaders by putting away Mt Pelier 4-1 at Jarrett Park.

Torrey Samuels gave the home team the lead in the seventh minute when Mt Pelier's goalkeeper Devin Garwood dropped the ball and the striker dribbled around him and shot in to an open goal.

Damion Nelson made it 2-0 just before the half-time break when he punished another mistake by Garwood after the goalkeeper's poor clearance fell to the overlapping defender who lobbed it back into the goal, in the 42nd minute.

Mt Pelier pulled one goal back in the 52nd minute when Ledron Smith shot into an open goal after a shot from Heron Street came back off the upright after beating goalkeeper Neil Lynch.

Seba restored their two-goal margin 10 minutes later when Rohan Bernard scored a penalty kick, while Seian McNish made it 4-1 in the 86th minute when he scored from close range.

Frome FC and Catherine Hall lessened the gap between third place Bamboo after wins over Exidos and Bamboo, respectively.

Frome won 1-0 to improve to 31 points, one behind Bamboo who went down 1-2 at home to Catherine Hall.

Evrol James in the ninth and Carl Henry in the 18th minutes scored for the St James club, while Christopher Jackson scored for Bamboo in the 29th minute, as all three goals came in the first half hour of the game.

Catherine Hall secured their place in the league next season by moving to 29 points, three more than Granville, who came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at home against Petersfield.

Omar Davis gave Petersfield the lead in the third minute, while Granville, who rested a number of players for Thursday's Flow Champions Cup KO quarter-final, equalised through Oniel Sterling in the 21st minute.

Wadadah, who won the last two titles, continued to move out of the relegation zone after edging Violet Kickers 3-2 to avenge a first-round 4-0 loss.

Oniel Selvin gave Wadadah the lead after 20 minutes but Dominick Brissett equalised in the 39th minute for a 1-1 half-time score.

Wadadah, however, scored twice in the second half, Curtis Palmer converting a penalty in the 52nd and Damion Chambers scoring in the 77th to take a 3-1 lead, while an 87th minute goal from Garvia Williams gave Violet Kickers some hope.
