Richards-Ross beats strong 400m field

Sanya Richards-Ross won her first race as 400m Olympic champion today, defeating world champion Amantle Montsho in a tight finish.
The Jamaican-born athlete who now competes for the US ran to take the event in 49.89 ahead of Montsho (50.03) who finished out of the medals at the London Olympics.
Third went to Britain’s Olympic silver medalist, Christine Ohuruogu in 50.77.
The race also included world leader Antonina Krivoshapka of Russia and Olympic finalists, Americans DeeeDee Trotter , who took bronze, and Francena Mccorory.
