Over 130 travel agents will contest the 10th renewal of the Sandals Travel Agent Golf Tournament slated for the Sandals Golf and Country Club today and tomorrow.
The tournament promises to also deliver a shot in the arm for Jamaica as a golfing destination and also the nation's tourism industry, as the agents will be heavily promoting the island.
"Jamaica stands to benefit significantly from hosting these influential travel agents," noted Sandals' Tony Ebanks, one of the organisers of the event. "As not only will they be here as part of the Sandals tournament, but they will tour the island, experience what Jamaica has to offer and when they go back, promote and sell Jamaica."
Event organisers are pleased with the large number of entries and since its inception 10 years ago, each year has always seen in excess of 100 agents.
Ebanks said that he expected some exciting golf during the two days of action, with the awards ceremony set for Saturday night.
"Traditionally we have always had some fun and also riveting action on the golf course and this year promises to be no less impressive," Ebanks noted.
