Scotia, JNBS among Inter-Bank winners

TITLE-holders Scotiabank Group made it five victories on the trot after defeating former champions National Commercial Bank (NCB), 6-2, in their JNBS/Western Sports/Norman Goodison Inter-Bank football competition on Sunday at Winchester Park.
In the curtain-raiser at the venue, Pan Caribbean Bank/Sagicor came from a goal down to beat RBC Royal Bank, 2-1, and secure their first victory of the season.
Marc Heslop gave RBC Royal Bank the lead in the 65th minute when he volleyed a cross from brother Paul Heslop out of the reach of goalkeeper Kirk Shaw. Pan Caribbean/Sagicor were rewarded for their perseverance in the 83rd when Durrant Smith beat goalkeeper Michael Russel from close range to tie the scores at 1-1.
They got the winner in the 90th when Paul-Anthony Cunningham’s powerful shot atop the 18-yard box beat the diving Russell.
In the feature match, a four-timer from Jamoy Sibblies carried his tally for the season to 11 as Scotiabank Group cruised to victory over their arch-rivals.
Jermaine Gardener and Anthony Greenland also scored for Scotia, while George Clarke scored a brace for NCB.
At the NWC field, JNBS defeated JMMB, 4-1, to move to second on nine points. Dyshone Clarke, Kimario Williams, Vivian Lawes and Ian Lindsay scored for JNBS, while Ryan Henry got the consolation for JMMB.
Bank of Jamaica stop CIBC/FCIB, 4-1, with Andre Campbell scoring a brace and Dasean Meeks an owngoal accounted. Veteran player George Smith got the consolation for the losers.
The league continues with four matches at the venues on Sunday.
