Scotiabank win KSA Business House Five-a-side Rally
SCOTIABANK Group won their third Kingston & St Andrew Business House one-day five-a-side football rally and took home the Pronto Porridge Mix trophy after defeating Carib Cement 1-0 in the final last Saturday at the NWC Playing Field, Mona.
Nineteen teams participated in this year's renewal. Scotiabank Group defeated defending champions Petrojam 2-0 in one semi-final, while Carib Cement clipped Xerox 1-0 in the other semi-final. The final was a closely contested affair with Andre McFarlane, Jamoy Sibblies and Anthony Greenland of Scotiabank and Keno Ross, Jabeur Johnson and Ricardo Scott of Carib Cement wasting easy scoring chances.
Excellent goalkeeping from Jabari Wallace of Scotiabank and Lemone Malcolm of Carib Cement ensured that no goal was scored until the 26th minute when a counterattack from Scotiabank saw Jabari Wallace throwing out a ball to Marlon Henry, who shot powerfully past Lemone Malcolm from an acute angle.
Scotiabank then 'parked the bus' in front of their goal and Raymond Williamson, Anthony Greenland, Marlon Henry and goalkeeper Wallace defended stoutly to ensure that their team was victorious.
The Western Sports-sponsored Business House Football League competition will kick off on Sunday, May 18, 2014, with the dress parade and a double-header at the Red Stripe Oval starting at 1:00 pm.
