AN 80th minute header by Jamaican striker Luton Shelton helped Karabükspor draw 1-1 with Trabzonspor on Saturday in their opening match of the 2012-2013 Süper Lig in Turkey.

Shelton, 26, who has played in Norway, Denmark, England and Sweden, effectively ended his goal drought for the Turkish club for which he has not scored since January 8.

Voklan Sen gave Trabzonspor the lead in the 20th minute when he right-footed in a Soner Aydog du pass before Shelton nodded home Florin Cernat’s corner.

Shelton’s return to form follows a brace last Wednesday for the Reggae Boyz, his first for the national team in over a year when he did duties at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Shelton notched only five goals from 28 matches for Karabükspor last season, way short of the 12 goals also from 28 matches for Norwegian team Vålerenga in 2010.

Meanwhile, in the Vietnam Super League, Devon Hodges netted two goals in the space of two minutes for Dong Thap to edge Thanh Hoa 3-2.

Twenty-eight-year-old Hodges struck in the 63rd and 64th minutes to bring his season tally to four from 21 matches. He trails compatriots Andre Fagan and Kavin Bryan in the Vietnam League, with eight and five goals respectively.

Dong Thap are in the 13th place of the 14-team league with 30 points while Thanh Hoa are in 11th place with 32 points. Both teams have played 26 matches.

Da Nang heads the Super League with 48 points, ahead of Ha Noi TT, 47 points, and Sai Gon Xuan Thanh, 46 points.
