Shericka Jackson shines at Puma development meet

HAYES, Clarendon — Vere Technical's Shericka Jackson sped to a fast 23.8 seconds to capture the Class One Girls 200 meters at the Puma/JAAA/Flow development meet at Jamalco in Hayes, Clarendon on Saturday.

Another highlight of the day was the presentation of honorees Olympians Rupert Hoilet, Patrick Robinson, Ray Harvey, the late Delroy Francis and Neville Myton for their contribution to track and field development.

The meet started with the 4x800, which GC Foster won in 8:6.7 minutes ahead of Bellefield (8:16.20) and Holmwood (8:16.9) in the men's event. In the female category, Holmwood were victorious in 9:14.0, followed by St Elizabeth Technical (9:30.2) and Vere (9:30.6).

In 4X400m relays, GC Foster College copped the men's section in 3:23.2 minutes, Vere won the high school Boys category in 3:24.2, while Clarendon College took the Girls run in 3:57.2.

Selected results: Class Two Girls 200m (Yanique Richards 24.7 seconds); 400m Class Three Boys 400m Akeem Hurd (Donald Quarrie) 55.0 seconds; Class Three Girls Christine Moss (STETHS) 59.9 seconds; 200m Women Arela Martin (GC Foster) 24.8; Zavier Brown GC Foster men 200 and 400m 21.5 and 49.7 seconds respectively.

With the absence of Edwin Allen, Vere dominated the meet and there was a resurgence of Clarendon College.
