Thursday, August 23, 2012
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CMC) — West Indies middle order batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul has moved up one place in the latest ICC reliance rankings for Test batsmen.
Chanderpaul now occupies third position in the batting table, 40 ratings point adrift of the South African batsman Hashim Amla who has reclaimed his number two spot.
The diminutive left hander is the only West Indian player in the top 20 of the batting rankings.
Meantime, West Indies Pace bowler Kemar Roach has remained steady in the bowlers table of the ICC rankings.
Roach, the lone West Indian bowler in the top 20, currently sits at number 10 and just 10 ratings points behind South African Bowler Morne Morkel.
Meantime, South Africa's fast bowler Vernon Philander has achieved a career-best second position on the Rankings for Test bowlers after inspiring his side to a 51 runs victory over England in the third Test at Lord's.
The latest Reliance ICC Test Rankings were released Tuesday after England-South Africa series and before the start of India-New Zealand series.
