Spanish Ambassador Nuno basks in golfing glory

Seventy-five golfers took to the course on Sunday, June 24 at the Caymanas Golf Club in St Catherine for the third staging of the AmCham ADS Global Golf Classic.
Among the golfers were eight ladies, four juniors and six corporate teams of four players each.
Celsa Nuno, Spain's ambassador to Jamaica with a net score of 68, was declared the overall winner.
"I am really enjoying the way that I hit the ball. I wasn't thinking at any moment about the end result. I was just playing the shot as it came and because of the practice I think it's paying off, so I am very happy about that and the fact that on top of that I won a tournament, it's great," said ann overjoyed Ambassador Nuno.
The Ladies category went to Yadines Fonseca, who posted a net score of 70.
The Alliance Investment Management team of Trevin Chin-Pin (71), Quintan Hugh-Sam (71), Tommy Lee (73) and Peter Chin (80) copped the corporate team trophy. The other corporate teams that competed in the tournament were ADS Global, NCB Capital Markets, Shipping Association, JPS and FLOW.
The Men Under-50 title went to Trevin Chin-Pin (71), who had a better back nine than Quintan Hugh-Sam who also ended with a net score of 71. Third place went to Jerry Smith with a net score of 72.
Larry Lodenquai took the Men Over 50 category with a net of 70 ahead of George Hugh (71) and third place Mark Chin (72).
In the Junior category, Russell Wilson-Spence (67) was declared winner for the males, while Victoria Samuels (70) took the female section.This is the first time that juniors were invited to compete in the tournament.
The format this year was Stroke Play using gross and net scores for prizes and had a 9:30 am Shot Gun start.
The prizes included two airline tickets from Jet Blue to New York, weekend for two at Riu, Ritz Carlton, Spanish Court, Couples Resorts, Hilton Rose Hall, Holiday Inn, Secrets Wild Orchard, gift vouchers from Supreme Ventures at the Acropolis. among others.
Part proceeds from the event will be used to help fund the activities of Crayons Count.
The sponsors for this year's golf classic were ADS Global, NCB Capital Markets, Supreme Ventures through its Just Bet brand, Best Dressed Chicken, JPS, Microsoft, Wata, Riu, Proven Wealth and Wray and Nephew.
