Tanto Campbell fifth, sets personal best in discus
Wednesday, September 05, 2012 | 8:15 AM
KINGSTON, Jamaica - Tanto Campbell set a personal best to claim fifth in the men’s discus throw F54/55/56 at the Paralympic Games in London minutes ago.
Campbell threw 41.66 metres which earned him 972 points. The event was won by Cuba’s Leonardo Diaz (44.63m), a world record, while second went to Drazenko Mitrovic of Serbia (32.97m). Though Mitrovic’s throw was shorter than Campbell’s, he was awarded more points (1012, also a world record) based on his higher level of disability.
The bronze medal went to Ali Mohammad Yari of Iran who threw 41.98m, his season’s best.
