JAMAICAN striker Ryan Johnson netted his fifth goal of the season Saturday night as Chicago Fire clipped his team Toronto FC 2-1 at Toyota Park, Bridgeview, Illinois in US Major League Soccer (MLS).

Johnson, 27, pounced on a wayward back pass from midfielder Marco Pappa to centre back Austin Berry in the 16th minute and struck a left-footer past 'keeper Sean Johnson for a 1-0 lead.

But Pappa and Berry made amends in the second half.

Guatemalan Pappa levelled the score in the 64th minute, capitalising on a errant touch from Toronto defender Logan Emory, and Berry headed in a Pável Pardo free kick in the 84th minute.

Enjoying one of his best seasons in the MLS since 2009 when he scored 11 goals for San Jose Earthquakes, Johnson has started in all 22 matches for Toronto in 2012.

The Jamaican is averaging a goal every 396 minutes but will need to double his strike rate to match his season of three years ago.

Toronto, the cellar team of the Eastern Conference with 19 points, will travel to Columbus Crew Stadium in Ohio this Saturday for a 6:30 pm match.

Meanwhile, another Jamaican international Jermaine Taylor scored after only 72 seconds for Houston Dynamo who spanked New York Red Bulls, 2-0, at the BBVA Compass Stadium in Texas in a top-of-the-table clash of the Eastern Conference in the United States Major League Soccer.

Houston lead the conference with 40 points, two adrift of the Red Bulls after 23 matches. Playing centre back, the 27-year-old Taylor, who had stints with St George's Sports Club and Harbour View FC, scored the second fastest goal in Dynamo history.

On the first trip down the field Friday night, Brad Davis floated the ball to the back post from a set piece. Andre Hainualt soon cracked a shot across the goal. Taylor then kneed the ball across the goal line at the right post.

Right-wing Calen Carr headed in Dynamo's second goal in the 28th minute when Macoumba Kandji swerved in a beautiful cross at the far post as Houston logged their fifth consecutive win.

Born in Portland, Taylor has so far played 18 matches for Houston Dynamo this season, starting in all but one. He has logged 1,574 minutes, surpassing the 1,066 minutes he played in 2011 which included 15 matches and 11 times in the starting line-up. He did not score last season.

Coincidentally, Houston's next match will be against New York this Friday night at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey. Match time is 7:00 pm.

Taylor has been a member of the Reggae Boyz outfit since 2004 and has 61 caps for his country.
